Sisters 4 Hope Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization headquartered in Desoto, TX., that was founded in 2020. Our mission statement is to provide a second chance to at-risk women facing homelessness, who are victims of domestic violence, youth aging out of the foster care system, and female veterans with resources, advocacy, and long-term sanctuary; so, they can become self-sufficient and safe from harm. At Sisters 4 Hope Foundation we believe that all women and children are Made to Love, and everything we do is a representation of this. The Communications Director will report to the Executive Director and will show proven experience in developing and executing a strategic communications and public relations plan – including generating positive exposure and broadening brand awareness; implementing strategic crisis communications, and advancing business objectives across internal and external audiences. This role will spearhead comprehensive public relations for the Sisters 4 Hope Foundation brand, deliver hands-on support for key projects, and design and execute media relation strategies including messaging and securing demand for all sites.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and execute high-impact and innovative strategies that increase community awareness and broaden visibility for Sisters 4 Hope Foundation brand across traditional and new media.
  • Serve as a trusted media liaison and advisor to the Board of Directors and senior executives; serve as a company spokesperson.
  • Lead and mitigate crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Position Sisters 4 Hope Foundation’s senior executives as thoughtful leaders within the industry; prepare talking points, briefing books, and all materials needed for speaking engagements and media interviews.
  • Design and execute media relations strategies and messaging to ensure they support business objectives and brand initiatives.
  • Manage PR/communications budget with the CFO.
  • Direct and manage small internal and external communications team.
  • Architect how PR/Comms is done at the nonprofit level and regional/local level
  • Develop, plan, and execute large-scale events (i.e., groundbreakings and grand opening events, galas, etc.) with cross-functional teams and internal/external partners.
  • Mentor and guide senior executives and marketing teams to understand strategic PR and communications.
  • Monitor, research, and advice on industry practices and trends to ensure Sisters 4 Hope Foundation is represented both at the brand and community level.
  • Oversee, direct, and streamline internal communication and write internal communications for senior executives across a variety of mediums.
  • Write and edit external communications pieces for executives and media
  • Advise on social media strategies, as needed.

Competencies & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or related field. Official transcript required.
  • Superb public speaker with impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional people and leadership skills and strong emotional IQ.
  • 3+ years directing and leading external agencies and internal teams.
  • At least three years experience in crisis management.
  • Program and project management experience.
  • Maturity and good judgment in knowing when and how to escalate issues while balancing the needs of various stakeholders, including executive leadership, human resources, and legal.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects, perform well under pressure and be a team player.
  • Experience with MS Office, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
