Sisters 4 Hope Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization headquartered in Desoto, TX., that was founded in 2020. Our mission statement is to provide a second chance to at-risk women facing homelessness, who are victims of domestic violence, youth aging out of the foster care system, and female veterans with resources, advocacy, and long-term sanctuary; so, they can become self-sufficient and safe from harm. The Director of Food Services is responsible for all aspects of the food programs throughout Sisters 4 Hope Foundation sites procurement and distribution of food, including pickup, receipt, storage, and distribution of food to community members in need. The Food Services Director will train and manage staff and volunteers to ensure that daily client needs are met by embracing Sisters 4 Hope Foundation’s core value to serve those in need with kindness and compassion. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Job Duties:
- Manage all aspects of food inventory procurement, controls, and distribution.
- Hire, train, motivate, supervise, and evaluate all paid staff and volunteers.
- Maintain adequate food supply to provide the best quality food for all facilities.
- Order and receive food and validate invoices from the food bank.
- Pickup, receive, and record food donations.
- Stock warehouse and ensure all food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Inventory of food quarterly and provide required food bank reports.
- Work with area grocery stores to increase food pick-ups from stores using the pantry box truck.
- Utilize FIFO (first in, first out) inventory practices to ensure food quality and minimize waste.
- Organize and oversee food distribution process with help of other staff and volunteers.
- Orient volunteers to food available and tasks to be done to prepare for food distributions.
- Manage client parking and entry/exit from the pantry with the help of other staff and volunteers.
- Organize packing for monthly home deliveries and weekly school backpack program.
- Implement food pantry safety policies as enforced by the Texas Department of Agriculture and USDA.
- Ensure all equipment – forklift, truck, refrigerator, freezers, pallet jacks, baler – and facility stay in good working order and schedule maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, well-ordered warehouse and property.
Competencies & Skill Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years Supervisory and Operations experience required (Warehouse Preferred).
- Strong communication and leadership skills – position require the ability to interact and communicate with staff, volunteers, and community (pantry clients and donors).
- Training in de-escalation techniques desired (will provide training).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety, storage practices, and inventory management required.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organization and time management skills required
- Able to work as a collaborative team member in delivering customer service
- Certified in food handling safety standards desired (will provide training if needed).
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift and 24’ box truck.
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, and lifting boxes up to 40 lbs.
